Wild Iris, Dietes grandiflora

Dietes differs from iris in having flowers with six free tepals that are not joined into a tube at their bases.

I'm a lot further north than Taiwan, and the blossoms have only started to come out in the last two weeks. So everything is still blooming. Nice iris.

Thanks for your visit to my Today's Flowers post. You asked about whether the tulip was the flower of a bulb was planted for this year or was a re-growth. My daughter told me that the bulb is several years old. It is a Parrot Tulip, and looked like a Parrot Tulip should look for the first couple of years, but it has "morphed" into the flower that I photographed. I like it better, and hope this flower is not the bulb's last flowering.

These are really beautiful! Did you use a new lens? They look much more dramatic than some of other photos - these are the photos that should get into magzines. Did you see the new Nikon 9000 - it looks very attractive to me becasue of its lighter weight. Sis
