Camera-Critters #67: The Eagle Has Landed

This was the word spoken by Neil Armstrong on July 20, 1969 when the lunar module "Eagle" landed on the moon during the lunar mission of Apollo 11. The Apollo 11 mission was the first manned mission landed on the moon which was launched on July 16, almost exactly 40 years ago. We all remembered that day very well, sitting in front of the black/white television set, watching this historic event. It is truly mankind's biggest achievement.

This eagle was photographed on the Seconsett Island on Cape Cod today. It was just about to land on his nest.

I like how you have used this beautiful photo of the eagle as a connection to that historic landing on the moon. I remember watching it on our tiny black and white TV in England. An amazing event and this is a wonderful Camera Critter post.

I was a huge space fan when I was a kid. I remember the Armstrong comment well.
Great photo to commemorate the occasion.

What a beautiful bird - it looks as though it's frozen in space. Loved the lighthouse shots too - such a blue, blue sky.

Very cool capture of the eagle !!!

I think that most of us, that were alive when the moon landing happened, can remember what we were doing that day...

I huddled around a small TV, with the rest of the nurses, doctors and any patient that was mobile .... a great moment !!
